People say 99% of male parrots are infertile, and we need to put another male cichlid to fertilize the eggs. If that is the case, what is the best cichlid to do the job ?? Should we pair them up before spawning ??

BREEDING PARROTS | ||

U have tried to take up a task that is next to impossible. Parrots are a hybrid, hence they cannot not breed. A parrot is a cross between a red devil and a jack dempsey. However, anomilies can occur we see this all the time in nature, but its so rare you would spend your whole life trying and probably get no where.

But I have heard from two people that they successfully bred the parrots. And they say the fry could come out to be different colors and even different KIND of fish. It would be fun to see all VARIETIES of fry
My parrots group is constantly laying eggs even in the aro tank. But of course all eggs got clean up once they are laid as the parrots are always searching/begging for food, they are really funny fish ! So far, only the parrots and the giant gourami I have had give me this kind of fun, like doggie. Always greeting me or I should say "always begging for food" and following me around the tank ![]() |

Regarding "following you around and begging for food", peacock bass loves to do that too.
Mine is about 8"-9" now. |

Hi all, Happy holidays. here is a cross breed parrot that my LFS has. i forgot what he use to cross breed the parrot with another fish and then something else.. but the outcome of the babies are...
![]() and ![]() i'm sorry to tell you that i don't have them anymore.. but i gave two to my friends which they keep on breeding in my tank to i had to give it away.. now he only have one. and it's about still 2.5"-3". i don't think they will grow any bigger.. and it's very easy to tell it's a male or female. female always have a red belly and the male doesn't. Hope this would solve your Q Anson. |
